Applications are invited for the role of Senior Clinical Fellow in Obstetrics and Gynaecology to commence as soon as possible for a fixed term period of 12 months. The post is primarily based at Burnley General Hospital
The Lancashire Womens & Newborn Centre is located on the Burnley General site and we provide satellite clinics across East Lancashire to ensure ease of access for the local population. We provide a full range of clinics in both obstetrics and gynaecology and all members of the team have a sub speciality interest. We have an outstanding reputation as a training unit.
Candidates must have full registration with the GMC and meet all the necessary requirements of the person specification.
The role is intended to assist with general service provision and has no on call commitment attached to it..
The post will be based at Burnley General Hospital with the post holder being required to take part in Obstetrics and/or Gynaecology general duties which will include antenatal clinics, Gynaecology Outpatient clinics, assisting in obstetric/Gynae theatre lists and labour ward/ Maternal assessment unit duties. You will also have opportunity to attend special interest clinics and enhance your knowledge and skills

We require a hardworking, dynamic doctor who works well within the wider team of doctors, midwives, specialist nurses and allied health professionals.
The successful candidate will see and plan care (supported by the Consultant) for in-patients, manage Labour Ward, assist maternity triage pathways and attend Antenatal clinics including specialist clinics.
Gynaecology duties include perioperative care of patients and admissions to the Gynaecology Ward, out-patient clinics (including specialist clinics in oncology, urogynaecology, colposcopy, and ambulatory Gynae). The Outpatients and Theatre sessions offer an ideal opportunity for teaching on a one-to-one basis.
It is essential that you are computer literate and have excellent communication skills. All staff are encouraged to play an active role in audit and the department has a positive attitude towards continual service improvement
