No recruitment experience? Good.
We're not looking for someone who's spent five years in recruitment.
We're looking for someone with drive, confidence, personality and a genuine desire to build a career where your performance determines how quickly you progress – and how much you earn.
You might be graduating and wondering what to do next.
You might have decided university isn't for you.
You might already be working in hospitality, retail, customer service or something completely unrelated and know you're capable of more.
We don't particularly mind.
We can teach you recruitment. We can't teach you to want to succeed.
TARCG is looking for Trainee Recruitment Consultants to join our growing team in Exeter.
No recruitment experience is required. No aviation experience is required.
We'll provide the training, technology, support and opportunities.
You bring the attitude.
Who are TARCG?
TARCG – The Aviation Recruitment & Consulting Group – specialises in engineering recruitment and project solutions for the aviation industry.
In simple terms, we find the people who keep aircraft flying.
Our customers need skilled engineers and technical teams to maintain, repair and modify aircraft around the world. We find those people and bring the two together.
It's a fast-moving, international industry where the right person in the right place can make a huge difference.
We're also a growing business ourselves.
TARCG is currently expanding and relaunching some of our key services, which makes this a great time to join us. You'll be coming into a business where there's room to progress, take responsibility and build something of your own.
What does a Recruitment Consultant actually do?
Recruitment is a people business.
You'll spend your day speaking to candidates, understanding what they're looking for, finding the right people for our clients and making sure recruitment processes actually happen.
Initially, we'll teach you how to:
- Find and approach candidates
- Speak confidently and professionally on the phone
- Interview and qualify people for aviation engineering roles
- Understand what our clients are looking for
- Write and advertise vacancies
- Build your own network of candidates
- Manage recruitment databases and systems
- Present opportunities and handle objections
- Negotiate offers and rates
- Manage candidates throughout the recruitment process
- Build long-term relationships with candidates and clients
- Ultimately, make placements and earn commission
As you develop, you'll take on more responsibility for your own vacancies, customers and area of the market.
This isn't a call centre and it isn't a pure sales job.
But you will be on the phone, you will have targets and you will be expected to perform.
If that sounds exciting rather than terrifying, keep reading.
Who are we looking for?
We're deliberately not giving you a huge list of required experience.
You don't need it.
What matters much more is what you're like as a person.
We think you'll do well here if you're:
- Confident talking to people
- Ambitious and motivated by earning good money
- Competitive
- Resilient when things don't go your way
- Comfortable picking up the phone
- Naturally curious and good at asking questions
- Organised enough to keep on top of multiple things at once
- Able to communicate properly – both verbally and in writing
- Willing to learn
- Happy being held accountable for your performance
- Someone who takes a bit of pride in being good at what they do
Most importantly, we're looking for people with some get-up-and-go.
We don't expect you to arrive knowing how recruitment works.
We do expect you to want to learn.
What can you earn?
You'll receive a competitive basic salary plus uncapped commission.
There isn't a fixed ceiling on what you can earn as you develop.
Recruitment rewards people who become good at it. As your experience, responsibility and performance increase, so does your earning potential.
We'll be completely transparent with you about how the commission scheme works, what progression looks like and what you need to achieve to reach the next level.
You'll know from day one what you're working towards.
What you'll get from us
We'll give you the tools and training you need to build a proper career in recruitment.
That includes:
- Full recruitment training
- Aviation industry training
- Ongoing coaching and support
- Uncapped commission
- Clear progression from day one
- Regular performance reviews and development
- Monthly incentives and competitions
- Modern recruitment technology and systems
- All the tools you need to do the job properly
- Free on-site parking
- Monday–Friday working
- 08:00–16:30 standard hours, with some flexibility where needed
- No weekend work
- The opportunity to progress within a fast-growing specialist business
And if you're good?
We'll give you room to run with it.
We want people who can eventually own their own area of the business, build relationships with customers, develop markets and progress into senior recruitment and leadership positions.
What's it like working here?
We're professional without wanting to feel overly corporate.
Our Exeter office is clean, modern and relaxed.
There's music playing, TVs on the walls showing activity, results and competitions, plus a pool table and darts board when you need five minutes away from your desk.
People talk. People have a laugh. People compete.
But we're here to do a job.
We want people who enjoy that balance – a good environment with high expectations.
This probably isn't for everyone.
Recruitment can be incredibly rewarding, but you need some resilience.
People won't always answer the phone.
Candidates sometimes change their minds.
Jobs sometimes disappear.
You'll occasionally put a lot of work into something that doesn't come off.
Then you'll pick the phone back up and go again.
If you need every day at work to be predictable, recruitment probably isn't for you.
If you like people, competition, responsibility and the idea that becoming really good at your job can significantly increase what you earn, it might be exactly what you're looking for.

Pay: £25,420.00-£27,000.00 per year
