Site Planner / Production Planner – Food Manufacturing
Location: Southall, Middlesex, UB2
Salary: £35,000 per annum
We are recruiting an organised and proactive Site Planner / Production Planner to join a busy food manufacturing operation in Southall, London.
The role will coordinate production and packing requirements from customer order planning through to finished product, while acting as a key link between the Kitchen, Packing, Warehouse, Technical, Quality Assurance and Dispatch teams.
Experience within food manufacturing, food production planning, ready meals, chilled foods or FMCG would be highly advantageous.
Key Responsibilities
- Review daily and future customer orders, including actual and forecast demand
- Assess production requirements and determine the quantities of meals required
- Break down meal requirements into individual kitchen components
- Communicate production and component requirements clearly to the Kitchen team
- Ensure sufficient notice is provided for components to be prepared ahead of packing
- Monitor changes to orders and forecasts and update production requirements accordingly
- Identify potential shortages early and escalate them to the relevant managers
- Prepare and maintain the daily packing and production plan
- Adjust plans in response to changes in orders, staffing, component availability or operational priorities
- Ensure the correct products are packed in the required quantities and within customer deadlines
- Coordinate closely between Kitchen and Packing to maintain smooth production flow
- Prioritise production where urgent orders, stock requirements or operational issues arise
- Supervise and coordinate packing operatives during the shift
- Allocate staff across packing lines and tasks according to production requirements
- Monitor productivity, attendance, breaks and labour utilisation
- Ensure food safety, GMP, housekeeping and company procedures are followed
- Provide hands-on support to the production and packing team when required
Candidate Requirements
The ideal candidate will have:
- Previous experience in food manufacturing, production planning or production operations
- Experience within ready meals, chilled foods, FMCG or a similar food production environment preferred
- Experience in packing, production or manufacturing operations
- Previous supervisory or team-leader experience would be beneficial
- Strong planning and organisational skills
- Good numerical and analytical ability
- Good computer and Excel skills
- Ability to interpret customer orders and translate them into production requirements
- Strong communication skills across different production departments
- Ability to work under pressure and respond quickly to changing priorities
- Excellent attention to detail
- Knowledge of Dynamics is required
Salary
£35,000 per annum
This role would suit someone with a background as a Production Planner, Food Manufacturing Planner, Production Coordinator, Packing Supervisor or Manufacturing Team Leader who understands the pace and demands of a food production environment.
