Welcome to Whitwell Park – a vibrant and welcoming 34-bed residential nursing service nestled in the heart of Whitwell. We're passionate about making a difference and are now looking for an enthusiastic cook to join our team.
About the Role
We are looking for a reliable and caring Cook to join our residential care home team. You will prepare, cook and serve nutritious, appetising meals for our residents, helping to make mealtimes enjoyable while supporting individual dietary, cultural and medical needs.
Key Responsibilities
· Prepare, cook and serve well-balanced meals and snacks in line with agreed menus.
· Support residents with specific dietary requirements, including allergies, modified textures, medical diets, religious or cultural preferences.
· Maintain high standards of food hygiene, kitchen cleanliness and safe working practices.
· Monitor stock levels, minimise waste and assist with ordering supplies where required.
· Work closely with care staff to understand residents’ preferences and changing needs.
· Complete relevant kitchen records, including temperature checks and food safety documentation.
· Ensure kitchen equipment is used safely and report any faults or concerns promptly.
· Contribute to a warm, respectful and person-centred home environment.
About You
· Previous experience working as a Cook, Chef or in a kitchen environment is preferred.
· A food hygiene qualification is desirable, or willingness to complete relevant training.
· Good understanding of health and safety, food safety and cleanliness standards.
· Ability to work well as part of a team and communicate positively with residents and colleagues.
· A kind, respectful and patient approach, with an understanding of the needs of older people or vulnerable adults.
· Reliable, organised and able to work to set mealtime schedules.
