This is a post for one consultant in Colorectal Surgery at Bristol NHS Foundation Trust (BFT), predominantly based at the City site (Bristol Royal Infirmary).
The successful candidate will be able to offer sub-specialist practice in Anal Neoplasia and Early Rectal Cancer, as well as to provide support to the Gynae-oncology and Endometriosis services. There will also be the opportunity to undertake resections as part of the cancer MDT and for benign disease. Experience in robotic colorectal surgery is desirable, but not essential. An academic interest would also be helpful to support the department. The post holder will have a general surgical on-call commitment and provide a dedicated session in Same Day Emergency Care (SDEC).
The successful applicant will be working with colorectal consultants already specialising in the above areas, in addition to colleagues within the wider multidisciplinary team.
There is a strong team approach to the care of patients and the clinical timetable is written to take into consideration on-call commitments and the overall annualised team-based job plan. This is designed to facilitate opportunities for joint consultant operating, as required, and to deal with variations in urgent workloads.
The consultant surgical members of the team share the day-to-day care of in-patients.
