Job Summary
The Activities Director plays a vital role in enhancing the quality of life for residents in our care home by planning, organising, and implementing engaging activities tailored to their interests and needs. This position requires a compassionate individual who can effectively communicate with seniors, particularly those in assisted living and nursing home settings, ensuring that all activities promote social interaction, mental stimulation, and overall well-being.
Duties
- Develop and implement a diverse range of activities that cater to the physical, emotional, and social needs of residents.
- Coordinate with staff to ensure activities are well-organised and adequately resourced.
- Engage residents in meaningful conversations to understand their preferences and encourage participation in planned events.
- Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of activities, making adjustments as necessary to enhance resident engagement.
- Foster a safe and supportive environment for all participants, particularly those with dementia or other cognitive impairments.
- Collaborate with families and caregivers to involve them in the planning process and encourage their participation in activities.
- Maintain accurate records of attendance and feedback on activities to report to management.
Skills
- Strong communication skills to effectively interact with seniors, staff, and families.
- Experience or knowledge in senior care, particularly within nursing homes or assisted living environments.
- Ability to create engaging programmes that cater to diverse interests and abilities.
- Compassionate approach towards residents, especially those requiring dementia care.
- Excellent organisational skills to manage multiple activities simultaneously.
