THE ROLE
We have an exciting opportunity for an Accounts Assistant to join our team. This role is ideal for an individual with some existing accountancy experience who is looking to continue their career within a supportive and professional environment.
The successful candidate will have a good understanding of accounting principles, excellent attention to detail and the ability to manage their workload effectively to meet deadlines.
The key responsibilities of the role are:
- Assisting with the preparation of year-end statutory accounts for a wide range of clients.
- Preparing and maintaining client bookkeeping records using accounting software.
- Assisting with the preparation of management accounts and month-end processes.
- Preparing and submitting quarterly VAT returns accurately and on time.
- Assisting with corporation tax work and other ad hoc assignments as required.
- Reviewing own work to ensure accuracy and maintaining the highest standards of client service and output.
ATTRIBUTES REQUIRED
The key attributes that we will look for are:
- AAT Level 4 qualified or AAT Level 3 qualified with relevant practical experience.
- A minimum of 1-2 years’ experience in an accountancy role, with the ability to quickly integrate into the position.
- A working knowledge of month-end processes, VAT returns and the preparation of statutory accounts.
- Good communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Good organisational skills and the ability to manage workloads and meet deadlines, while remaining flexible and adaptable.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office, especially Outlook and Excel.
- Approachable, professional and positive attitude.
ABOUT OUR ACCOUNTS AND BUSINESS SERVICES SERVICE LINE
The service line encompasses different teams and shares many of its staff with the audit service line giving them a wide and varied range of experiences.
Our clients range from small sole traders, family trusts and landed estates through to large international manufacturers and professional practices, all spread across the UK and Europe, but predominately in the North East of England.
Teams working in the division cover payroll, bookkeeping, VAT and accounting services for all with some specialising in client sectors such as agriculture, landed estates, IT, property and law. Our specialist trainers also look after the induction of new starters and education of our trainee accountants as they progress though their career to professional qualification.
Pay: £25,000.00-£28,000.00 per year
