Compliance & Maintenance Manager
Salary: Up to £56,000 per annum (DOE) | Company Benefits
Hours: 37 hours per week | FTC (12 months)
Location: Walsall, West Midlands or Cambridge, Cambridgeshire (Travel shall be required across both regions)

South Staffordshire Water operates across two regions as Cambridge Water and South Staffs Water, and is a privately-owned regulated water only company.
South Staffs Water supplies a population of nearly 1.3 million. The area of supply stretches from the edge of Ashbourne in the North, to Halesowen in the South, and from Burton-on-Trent in the East, to Kinver in the West.
The Role:
We’re excited to introduce a brand-new Compliance & Maintenance Manager role within South Staffs Water. This is a pivotal position that strengthens our operational compliance capability and ensure we continue to deliver safe, reliable, and high-quality water services to our customers.
As regulatory expectations evolve, this role will be central to embedding robust compliance frameworks, enhancing asset reliability, and driving operational excellence across our treatment and network operations. You will play a key role in shaping how we deliver statutory compliance while championing a culture of continuous improvement and operational integrity across the business.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone within the water sector or a regulated utilities environment to make a tangible impact in a newly created role.
Key Responsibilities:

Lead the delivery and assurance of statutory and regulatory compliance across operations

Develop, implement, and embed compliance assurance frameworks, including audit and governance processes

Drive improvements in asset reliability, maintenance strategy, and performance optimisation

Support and enhance water quality standards through robust operational control and best practice

Strengthen process safety and proactively manage operational and compliance risks

Oversee contractor governance, ensuring performance, safety, and compliance standards are consistently met

Provide clear, insightful, data-driven reporting to senior stakeholders and leadership teams

Build and maintain strong relationships with internal teams, external partners, and regulators

Promote a culture of continuous improvement, accountability, and operational excellence
What You’ll Need:

Proven experience working in a regulated operational environment (water, utilities, energy, or similar)

Strong understanding of compliance, maintenance, and/or asset management principles

Knowledge of operational processes within water or comparable infrastructure-based industries

Demonstrated ability to drive performance improvement and manage operational risk

Excellent stakeholder management and influencing skills, with the ability to engage at all levels

A strong analytical mindset, with the ability to translate data into actionable insights
