PAYE Service & Breakdown Gas Engineer

We are currently recruiting for an experienced Domestic Gas Service & Breakdown Engineer to join one of the UK's leading heating manufacturers. The Role
As a Service & Breakdown Engineer, you will be responsible for servicing, diagnosing and repairing domestic gas heating appliances within residential properties across Leeds and the surrounding areas.
Key Responsibilities:
- Carry out servicing, maintenance and repairs on domestic gas boilers and heating systems.
- Diagnose faults and complete first-time fixes wherever possible.
- Attend scheduled breakdown appointments.
- Complete system repairs and fault finding.
- Deliver an excellent level of customer service on every visit.
- Work towards individual performance and efficiency KPIs.
- Accurately complete electronic job reports using a tablet.
- Follow company procedures and health & safety standards at all times.
- Continue developing technical knowledge, including renewable and emerging heating technologies.
Requirements:
- Current ACS qualifications: CCN1, CENWAT1, HTR1, LPG (desirable)
- Previous extensive experience servicing and repairing domestic gas boilers.
- Strong diagnostic and fault-finding abilities.
- Excellent customer service and communication skills.
- Good IT skills.
- Full UK Driving Licence.
- A flexible, professional attitude with a willingness to continually develop your technical skills.
Salary & Working Hours
Basic Salary: £45,617
Working Pattern
- Planned day: 8:00am – 6:00pm - Engineers leave home at 8:00am and are home by approximately 6:00pm
- First appointment is typically scheduled from 9:00am (travel dependent)
Your basic salary covers working hours until 4:30pm.
From 4:30pm – 6:00pm, any planned work is paid at single overtime, whether the full period is worked or not (rounded up to 6:00pm if you finish at 5:30pm, if engineers work past 6:00pm they do not get overtime for it).
No on-call rota or call outs required.
Workload:
- Average of 6–8 jobs per day
- Workload adjusted to allow for longer travel distances
- Realistic scheduling to support quality workmanship rather than excessive volume
Shift Patterns
Summer Rota
- Monday – Friday (3 weeks)
- Tuesday – Saturday (1 week)
Occasionally, engineers may be asked to work one additional rest day per month if required.
Winter Rota
- Monday – Friday (2 weeks)
- Tuesday – Saturday (2 weeks)
Occasionally, engineers may be asked to work up to two additional rest days per month during peak periods.
Bonus Opportunities:
Efficiency Bonus - Earn additional monthly bonus based on:
- First-time fix rate
- Recall percentage
Performance is monitored daily and paid monthly, providing consistent opportunities to increase earnings.
Capacity Bonus - Engineers are rewarded for completing work efficiently.
For example: If your planned finish time is 5:30pm but all work is completed by 4:30pm, you'll still receive one hour of overtime payment.
