We’re looking for an experienced CNC Programmer to join a leading engineering team based in Derby!
This is a hands-on role working on high-quality precision components within a modern, well-organised facility. You’ll be responsible for programming and setting CNC machinery, helping to ensure components are produced accurately and efficiently.
Experience with Heidenhain or Siemens controls would be advantageous, but candidates with strong CNC programming experience on other controls will also be considered. Full training and support will be provided, giving you the opportunity to develop your knowledge of the company's machinery and systems.
This is a Full-Time, Permanent position!
What you’ll be doing
- Create and optimise CNC programs for precision components
- Set up and operate CNC machinery, ensuring machines are correctly prepared for production
- Interpret technical drawings and understand machining requirements
- Select appropriate tooling and machining parameters
- Carry out first-off inspections and in-process quality checks
- Use precision measuring equipment including micrometers, calipers and gauges
- Identify and resolve machining issues to maintain production and quality standards
- Maintain a clean, organised and safe working environment
Hours
Flexible day shifts (38 hours per week, Monday-Friday)
Monday-Thursday: choice of 7am-3:30pm / 7:30am-4pm / 8am-4:30pm / 8:30am-5pm
Friday: choice of 7am-1pm / 7:30am-1:30pm / 8am-2pm / 8:30am-2:30pm (early finish!)
Pay
£34,000 - £36,000 per annum (Depending on Experience)
Skills/Experience Required
- Previous experience programming and setting CNC machinery
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings
- Good understanding of machining principles, tooling and cutting parameters
- Experience with CNC controls such as Heidenhain, Siemens, Fanuc or similar
- CAM experience would be advantageous but is not essential
- Basic knowledge of GD&T would be desirable
- Engineering apprenticeship, qualification or equivalent practical experience
