Weekend Housekeeper – YMCA Leicestershire
Salary: £5,341 pro-rata per annum (£26,707 FTE)
Working Hours: 8 hours per week, Saturday and Sunday. 7am to 11am

We are looking for a reliable and caring Weekend Housekeeper to keep our accommodation, communal areas and working spaces clean, safe and welcoming. Your work will help residents, colleagues and visitors feel comfortable, respected and valued.
You will work thoughtfully in people’s homes, protecting their privacy and dignity while encouraging pride, independence and shared responsibility for their surroundings.
The role
You will:
- Clean communal kitchens, bathrooms, corridors, shared spaces, offices and accommodation areas.
- Vacuum carpets, mop floors, clean ovens, surfaces and internal windows, and dispose of waste appropriately.
- Keep external areas clear of litter.
- Thoroughly prepare vacant rooms, ensuring furniture, equipment and clean bedding are ready for new residents.
- Identify and report hazards, damage, maintenance needs and safeguarding concerns.
- Follow risk assessments, COSHH, infection-control and health and safety procedures.
- Use cleaning products, equipment, water and energy safely and responsibly.
- Monitor supplies and request stock when needed.
- Plan your workload, maintain simple records and complete tasks to agreed standards.
About you
You will be warm, respectful and non-judgemental, with:
- Experience cleaning domestic, residential, hospitality or similar shared environments.
- An understanding of safe cleaning methods, hygiene, manual handling and the safe use and storage of cleaning products.
- The ability to recognise and report maintenance, safety and safeguarding concerns.
- The ability to follow written instructions and maintain straightforward records.
- A reliable, organised and conscientious approach.
- The confidence to work independently, use your initiative and manage your time.
- A commitment to high standards, inclusion and treating others with kindness.
- No formal qualification is required, but you must be willing to complete all mandatory training.
