Sales Ledger and Finance Assistant Location: Old Trafford

The Role:
As our Sales Ledger and Finance Assistant, you'll play a key role in supporting the financial operations of the Manchester United Foundation. This is a varied and hands-on position with responsibility for managing the Foundation's sales ledger and banking activities, while also supporting month-end processes, grant reporting, audit preparation and matchday lottery administration.
Working closely with the Management Accountant and wider Finance & Compliance team, you'll ensure financial information is accurate, compliant and delivered on time. You'll also contribute to improving financial processes and controls, helping the Foundation operate efficiently as it delivers life-changing programmes across our communities.
Key responsibilities include:

Managing the Foundation's end-to-end sales ledger, including raising invoices, maintaining funding records and carrying out effective credit control.

Processing and reconciling bank transactions, ensuring accurate postings and resolving discrepancies promptly.

Supporting month-end close activities through journal preparation and balance sheet reconciliations.

Administering corporate credit card reconciliations and ensuring expenditure is accurately recorded.

Supporting the reconciliation and reporting of matchday lottery income, including Gambling Commission returns.

Preparing financial information to support grant applications and funder reporting requirements.

Assisting with year-end audit preparation and maintaining well-organised financial records.

Identifying opportunities to improve finance processes and providing wider support across the finance team, including purchase ledger cover when required.
The Person:
We're looking for a highly organised and detail-focused finance professional who enjoys working in a varied role and takes pride in delivering accurate, high-quality work. You'll be proactive, collaborative and comfortable managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
To be successful in this role, you'll have:

Previous experience in a finance role, with strong experience managing an end-to-end sales ledger function.

A willingness to work towards a recognised accountancy qualification (such as AAT), or be currently studying.

Excellent numerical and analytical skills, with exceptional attention to detail.

Strong organisational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritise effectively and meet deadlines.

Confidence using Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, and experience working with finance systems.

A proactive approach to problem solving, with the ability to identify opportunities to improve processes and controls.

Excellent communication and relationship-building skills, enabling you to work effectively with colleagues and stakeholders across the Foundation.

A flexible, team-oriented approach and willingness to support colleagues across the wider finance function when required.
