Salary: £42,000 per year
Role Description
Passive Fire Operations Manager is a full-time, on-site role based in Hessle, East Yorkshire. This role oversees day to day management of passive fire protection and firestopping projects, including planning, scheduling, and coordinating site teams to deliver compliant compartmentation solutions.
The Operations Manager monitors project progress, manages resources and materials, and ensures work meets regulatory standards, client specifications, and internal quality requirements.
Responsibilities include:
- Manage multiple firestopping projects from inception through to completion
- Identify, develop, and secure new business opportunities within the passive fire protection sector
- Review architectural drawings, specifications, and project documentation
- Build and maintain strong relationships with contractors, developers, housing associations, local authorities, and commercial clients
- Prepare quotations, estimates, and tender submissions
- Plan resources, labour, materials, and subcontractors
- Monitor project costs, budgets, and profitability
- Ensure projects are delivered on programme and meet client expectations
- Conduct site visits and progress meetings with clients and site teams
- Resolve project issues efficiently while maintaining quality and programme
- Occasional travel and overnight stays may be required depending on project location
- Develop long-term client relationships to generate repeat business
Compliance & Quality
- Ensure all firestopping works comply with current legislation, manufacturer specifications, and industry best practice
- Maintain accurate project documentation and certification records
- Promote a strong health and safety culture across all projects
- Work closely with internal teams to ensure high standards of workmanship and customer satisfaction
About You
The successful candidate will have:
- Experience in passive fire protection, firestopping, or related construction operations, with strong knowledge of relevant UK fire safety regulations and standards.
- Proven operations or project management skills
- Strong knowledge of fire compartmentation and firestopping systems
- Experience managing construction or fire protection projects
- Ability to interpret architectural drawings and construction specifications
- Proven experience in business development, sales, or client relationship management
- Strong commercial awareness and budget management skills
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and organisational skills
- Ability to lead and supervise site teams, promote safe working practices, and maintain high-quality workmanship, along with overseeing multiple installation teams, co-ordinating labour, workloads and project delivery across multiple sites.
- The ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
- A proactive and results-driven approach
- Computer literate – Microsoft Excel, Outlook
- Maths & English qualifications
- A full UK driving licence willingness to travel to project sites within the region as required.
- Experience working on live construction and refurbishment projects, particularly in complex or occupied buildings, is highly beneficial.
Desirable
- Experience pricing and estimating firestopping works
- Knowledge of current fire safety regulations and industry standards
- Experience working with Tier 1 contractors, housing providers, or commercial clients
- Relevant construction or passive fire protection qualifications
- SMSTS, SSSTS, CSCS, or other relevant health and safety certifications
