The Role
BSE|3D is looking for a technically capable Electrical Engineer to join our Building Services team in Birmingham.
This is an excellent opportunity for an engineer looking to further develop their technical expertise across a wide variety of projects and sectors. Working alongside experienced colleagues, you'll take ownership of electrical designs across all RIBA stages, contributing to projects from concept through to completion while continuing to broaden your technical knowledge and project experience.

What You'll Be Doing
Technical Delivery
- Delivering electrical design across RIBA Stages 1–7 on a diverse range of projects
- Producing electrical calculations including cable sizing, load schedules and power distribution using Trimble Amtech (or equivalent)
- Producing lighting calculations and designs using Dialux, Relux or similar software
- Producing and coordinating AutoCAD drawings and REVIT models
- Preparing specifications, design reports and technical documentation
- Designing power distribution, small power, containment, lighting, emergency lighting, fire alarm and data systems
- Applying BS 7671, the IET Wiring Regulations and relevant British Standards throughout project delivery
- Collaborating with architects, structural engineers, mechanical engineers and the wider multidisciplinary design team
Project & Team Responsibilities
- Managing your own workload while supporting the successful delivery of multiple projects
- Mentoring and supporting junior engineers and technicians where appropriate
- Taking an active role in CPD and working towards professional membership or Chartership
- Contributing to technical excellence, innovation and continuous improvement across the team
- Undertaking any other duties reasonably required
What We Are Looking For
- HNC/HND, degree or equivalent qualification in Building Services Engineering (Electrical), Electrical Engineering or a related discipline, with 4–6 years' Building Services experience
- A strong understanding of electrical building services design principles
- Experience designing power distribution, lighting, emergency lighting, fire alarm and small power systems across a range of projects
- Working knowledge of AutoCAD, with REVIT experience desirable
- Experience using electrical design and calculation software such as Trimble Amtech or equivalent
- Good understanding of BS 7671, IET Wiring Regulations and relevant British Standards
- Able to manage your own workload and contribute to the successful delivery of projects with minimal supervision
- Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively within a multidisciplinary team
- Working towards professional membership or Chartership with IET, CIBSE or an equivalent professional body
- Right to work in the UK and ideally a full UK driving licence
