JOB TITLE: ASSISTANT QUARRY MANAGER
REPORTING TO: QUARRY MANAGER
PURPOSE
The Assistant Quarry Manager is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the Quarry, ensuring safe, efficient and cost-effective extraction and processing of materials. The role involves supervising personnel, coordinating production activities, maintaining equipment performance and ensuring compliance with safety, environmental and regulatory standards.
RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:
PEOPLE MANAGEMENT (PlantSupervisor/Plant Operators/contractors)
· Daily Toolbox Talks
· Technical Support
· Recruitment
· Performance
· Absence Management
· Training/Coaching – Ensure all areas of knowledge are updated as required to carry out the job with maximum effectiveness and to organise training/development courses as and when required.
· Payroll/submission of accurate time sheets
· Workforce Planning -. Safe and efficient utilisation of the site staff.
OPERATIONS MANAGEMENT:
· Day to day supervision of Quarry operations with visible field leadership
· Operational Decision making during live production periods
· Coordinate with plant operators, drivers and maintenance teams to optimise workflow
SITE SECURITY
· Ensure CCTV camera systems are operational and fully functioning without issue.
· Be available on call evenings and weekends for the Remote PID Detertech service.
· Fully Investigate any security breaches and report to Operations Manager.
HEALTH AND SAFETY:
· Enforce strict adherence to health and safety regulations
· Conduct regular safety inspections and risk assessments
· Get involved in daily briefings
· Investigate incidents and implement corrective actions
· Ensure all employees use appropriate PPE and follow safety procedures
COMPLIANCE
· Understand and implementation of the Quarries Regulations 1999 enabling a Reg 8 appointment (D) or be willing to learn.
· Ensure all permit conditions are being followed and adhered to.
· Manage de-watering activities across all areas of the site ensuring environmental and permit compliance is adhered to.
· To comply with all aspects of the Brice Aggregates Policies
· Instructions and procedures and followed to prevent any fraudulent activities taking place.
EQUIPMENT & MAINTENANCE:
· Monitor equipment performance and coordinate preventive maintenance
· Report mechanical issues promptly
· Ensure machinery is operated correctly and safely
· Minimize equipment downtime through effective planning
ENVIRONMENTAL COMPLIANCE:
· Monitor the generation of dust
· Ensure compliance with environmental regulations and permits
QUALIFICATIONS
· Minimum 3-5 years’ experience in quarry operations
· Supervisory experience preferred
· NVQ Level 2 or above in Quarrying
· IOSH Managing Safely
· NPORS/CPCS/MPQC mobile plant qualifications
SKILLS
· Strong leadership
· Problem solving and decision making abilities
· Good communication and organizational skills
· Ability to work under pressure and meet production targets
EXPERIENCE
· In depth knowledge of quarry operations and heavy machinery
· Sound understanding of health,, safety and environmental regulations

Pay: £17.00 per hour
