We have a fantastic opportunity for a reliable, hardworking, enthusiastic, and motivated individual to join our friendly and supportive team at our state-of-the-art RCVS accredited Equine Hospital just outside of Tewkesbury, Gloucestershire.
As a keen team player, you will be working within our experienced veterinary and support staff teams to deliver the best care and service to our patients and clients. We cover a wide variety of patients from high-end competition horses to much loved family pet horses.
The Dispensary Manager position is a hands-on management role responsible for the safe, accurate and efficient dispensing of medication including:
- To oversee and manage the day to day running of the dispensary.
- To ensure the Practice meets the current requirements regarding audit and current legislation, including controlled drug legislation.
- To work alongside the Deputy Practice Manager, Practice Manager and Directors to maintain the quality of the service the Practice provides.
- Keeping up to date with current pricing and purchasing arrangements to ensure maximisation of Dispensary income. Communicating instructions to the team on a regular and timely basis.
- Stock management/purchasing including ordering appropriate quantities of stock, stock rotation, checking goods as and when they are delivered and returning incorrect goods to the wholesalers.
- Responsibility for completing and submitting monthly stock takes, stock investigations and leakage reports accurately and within the deadline.
- Liaison with drug company representatives and obtaining information regarding drug supply issues and new products.
- Ensuring statutory requirements are met including documentation, training, and risk assessments informing management of breaches and variations from practice protocols.
- Managing / dispensing prescriptions and repeat prescriptions requests received
- Management of controlled drugs – handling, storage, record keeping and associated regulations and maintaining up to date SOP's and protocols.
You will have the following skills and experience:
- Previous dispensary / pharmacy experience in a clinical based practice (preferred but not essential)
- Practical and organised
- Experience with controlled drugs and stock management is preferred but not essential.
- Experience of audits desirable.
The normal hours are: Monday – Friday 8.30 am to 5.30 pm with a one hour unpaid lunch break.
