Commis chef required for fantastic pub in Woodstock, Oxfordshire
A really exciting opportunity to join the team throughout the high season at an amazing pub company.
We are seeking a motivated and passionate Commis Chef to join our culinary team. This role offers an excellent opportunity for individuals looking to develop their skills in a professional kitchen environment, through our high season, with the possibility for extension. Job Type: Full time, fixed term
Salary: £11 - 13 per hour + plus service charge (approx £3 - 4 per hour)
Personal attributes:
- Excellent preperation skills
- Understanding of produce and ingredients
- Experience with multi tasking the many vital kitchen requirements
- Knowledge of EHO requirements to top standards
- Ability to work under and take direction from the Head Chef
Key responsibilities:
- Reliable pair of hands
- Assist with food preparation and meal assembly according to established recipes and standards
- Support the cooking process, ensuring dishes are prepared efficiently and to the highest quality
- Maintain cleanliness and organisation of the kitchen, including washing, sanitising, and storing utensils and ingredients
- Follow food safety protocols and hygiene regulations at all times
- Help with stock rotation, inventory checks, and ordering supplies as needed
- Support senior chefs during service periods, ensuring smooth operation of the kitchen
- Contribute to maintaining a positive team environment and uphold professional standards
Requirements
- Previous experience in a kitchen or restaurant environment is preferred but not essential; enthusiasm to learn is key
- Knowledge of food preparation, cooking techniques, and food safety standards
- Ability to work efficiently under pressure in a fast-paced environment
- Good organisational skills and attention to detail
- Flexibility to work shifts, including evenings and weekends if required
- A genuine interest in culinary arts and developing a career within hospitality
- Willingness to live on-site if offered live-in accommodation
