Overview
We are seeking a motivated and hands-on Electrical & Instrumentation Technician, to join our growing Research & Development team. The successful candidate will be involved in the assembly, testing, calibration, installation and commissioning of precision instrumentation and data acquisition systems used within aerospace, turbomachinery, power generation and other high-performance engineering industries.
This is an excellent opportunity for an individual with mechanical, electrical or electronic engineering experience who enjoys working in a varied role combining workshop-based activities with occasional customer site work.
We are seeking a talented, multi skilled Electrical & Instrumentation Technician with a practical, hands-on approach ideally with a strong background in electrical assembly and instrumentation.
Key Responsibilities
- Assembly of electrical, electro-mechanical and electronic instrumentation products.
- Supporting prototype development, product improvements and new product innovation activities.
- Installation and application of sensors, probes, thermocouples, strain gauges and associated instrumentation.
- Calibration, testing and fault-finding of instrumentation systems and assisting with instrumentation sign-off activities on completed rigs.
- Cable assembly, wiring and electrical integration activities.
- Reading and interpreting engineering drawings, wiring diagrams and technical specifications.
- Supporting customer site installations, commissioning and service activities when required.
- Ensuring compliance with quality procedures, engineering standards and health and safety requirements.
- Maintaining a clean, organised and safe working environment.
Candidate Requirements
Essential:
- Experience working within a manufacturing, engineering, instrumentation or aerospace environment.
- Practical experience of assembly, testing and fault-finding activities.
- The ability to read and interpret engineering drawings.
- Excellent practical problem-solving skills.
- Experience of using hand tools, workshop equipment, and precision measuring instruments.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
Desirable:
- Ability to ensure work is completed within agreed timescales whilst maintaining high standards of quality and productivity.
- Experience working with data acquisition systems.
- Previous experience of working in an R&D or prototyping environment.
- Experience working within aerospace, gas turbine or turbo machinery industries.
