Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated Laying Hen Stockperson to oversee the care of laying hens within our poultry farm. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining the health and productivity of the flock, ensuring optimal living conditions, and supporting the overall operation of the poultry unit. Responsibilities
- Provide daily care for laying hens, including feeding, watering, and health monitoring
- Maintain clean and comfortable living environments for the poultry, including bedding management and ventilation checks
- Assist with egg collection and handling, ensuring eggs are stored appropriately
- Perform routine maintenance and minor repairs on farm equipment using hand tools and power tools
- Monitor flock health and behaviour, reporting any signs of illness or distress to senior staff
- Conduct basic maintenance tasks such as equipment repair and general farm upkeep
- Use mechanical knowledge to troubleshoot equipment issues and perform repairs when required
- Apply animal care best practices to promote welfare and productivity
Requirements
- Experience or knowledge in animal care, is desirable but not essential; training will be provided for suitable candidates
- Strong organisational skills with attention to detail in record keeping and daily tasks
- Good physical fitness with the ability to stand for extended periods and perform manual labour in varying weather conditions
- Basic maths skills for inventory management and record keeping
- Mechanical knowledge advantageous for equipment repair tasks

Pay: £24,420.00-£43,458.77 per year
