We are seeking an experienced Payroll & Finance Operations Manager to join our Finance team at an exciting time of growth and transformation. Reporting to the Director of Finance, you will lead the firm's internal payroll function, oversee day-to-day finance operations, and play a key role in delivering major systems and process improvement projects.
This is a broad and influential position combining operational leadership with strategic change management. You will act as the payroll subject matter expert for the implementation of a new HR and payroll platform, ensuring a smooth transition while maintaining the highest standards of compliance, accuracy, and service delivery.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage the firm's internal payroll function, ensuring compliance with payroll legislation, pensions, and statutory requirements.
- Oversee payroll reporting, reconciliations, submissions, and continuous process improvement.
- Manage core finance operations, including VAT returns, cash management, banking activities, and balance sheet reconciliations.
- Lead payroll and finance transformation projects, including the implementation of a new HR and payroll system and other technology-driven improvements.
- Drive efficiencies through automation, enhanced controls, and improved reporting.
- Lead, motivate, and develop a small finance operations team, providing coaching and support to maximise performance and growth.
About You
You will be an experienced finance and payroll professional with:
- Proven experience managing payroll with responsibility for accuracy, compliance, and governance.
- Strong knowledge of payroll legislation, pensions, and statutory obligations.
- Experience leading finance operations within a busy finance function.
- A track record of delivering systems implementations, process improvements, or transformation projects.
- Strong people management, stakeholder engagement, and communication skills.
- A proactive approach to problem-solving and continuous improvement.
Experience within a professional services environment would be advantageous.
