Senior Quantity Surveyor (Civil Engineering & Infrastructure)

Deliver Infrastructure Projects Across the South West
We are seeking an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor to join our established commercial team, playing a key role in the delivery of major infrastructure projects across the South West.
This position offers the opportunity to lead the commercial management of significant schemes, including works delivered as part of the Metro West programme in Bristol, alongside a portfolio of Environment Agency and Local Authority framework contracts.
Working closely with operational teams, clients and the supply chain, you will provide commercial leadership throughout the project lifecycle while supporting and developing junior members of the commercial team.

The Opportunity
As a Senior Quantity Surveyor, you will take ownership of the commercial and contractual management of multiple infrastructure projects and framework schemes. Reporting into the Managing Quantity Surveyor, you will work collaboratively with project delivery teams to maximise commercial performance, manage project risks and ensure successful project delivery.
You will also play an important role in mentoring and developing Graduate and Assistant Quantity Surveyors, helping to build the next generation of commercial professionals.
Key Responsibilities

Lead the commercial management of projects delivered under the Metro West Scheme, Environment Agency frameworks and Local Authority contracts.

Prepare, manage and present monthly Cost Value Reconciliations (CVRs).

Produce accurate cost forecasts and support business planning processes.

Manage subcontract procurement from enquiry through to award.

Prepare subcontract documentation and administer contractual arrangements.

Manage subcontractor accounts from commencement through to final account agreement.

Administer and manage compensation events and change control procedures.

Manage compensation events and commercial submissions both upstream to clients and downstream to the supply chain.

Prepare and submit applications for payment and client valuations.

Monitor project performance and identify commercial risks and opportunities.

Build and maintain effective client relationships, acting as a key commercial point of contact.

Support project teams in achieving commercial objectives and contractual compliance.

Prepare and agree final accounts with clients and subcontractors.

Contribute to monthly commercial reviews and business reporting.
About You
We're interested in hearing from candidates who can demonstrate:

Significant experience as a Quantity Surveyor or Senior Quantity Surveyor within civil engineering, infrastructure, rail or utilities.

Strong understanding of NEC contracts and change management processes.

Proven experience managing subcontractors and complex supply chains.

Experience preparing CVRs, forecasts and commercial reports.

Strong commercial acumen with the ability to identify and manage risk.

Experience managing compensation events, variations and contractual claims.
-
Excellent communication and negotiation skills.

Previous client-facing experience and the ability to build long-term relationships.

Experience mentoring or managing Assistant and Graduate Quantity Surveyors.

Degree, HNC/HND, or equivalent qualification in Quantity Surveying, Commercial Management or a related discipline.
