Job Overview
Metropolitan Security Services are seeking a number of vigilant and dedicated Store Detectives to join our retail security team. The successful candidate will be responsible for monitoring store premises to prevent theft, ensuring the safety of staff and customers, and maintaining a secure shopping environment. This role offers an opportunity to utilise surveillance skills and contribute to the overall safety of our retail operations.
Duties
- Conduct regular surveillance of store areas using CCTV and physical patrols to identify suspicious activity
- Monitor customer and staff behaviour for signs of theft or misconduct
- Document incidents accurately through detailed report writing, ensuring all relevant information is captured
- Respond promptly to security breaches or emergencies, including providing first aid if necessary
- Collaborate with store management and law enforcement when required to address security concerns
- Maintain a visible presence in the store to deter potential theft and reassure customers and staff
- Keep security equipment in good working order and report any malfunctions or hazards
Experience
- Prior experience in retail security, surveillance, or law enforcement is advantageous but not essential; training will be provided
- Strong observational skills with an eye for detail
- Excellent report writing abilities with clear, concise documentation skills
- First aid certification is desirable but not mandatory; training will be available for successful candidates
- Ability to remain calm under pressure and handle sensitive situations professionally
- Good organisational skills with the ability to prioritise tasks effectively
