Job Overview
It’s an exciting time to join Pricing & Analytics at AXA UK. We’re investing significantly in our people, technology and analytical capabilities as part of our transformation programme, creating opportunities to shape the future of pricing within one of the UK’s leading insurers.
As a Principal Pricing Analyst, you’ll play a key role within one of our pricing teams, taking ownership of the pricing performance of a product or strategic initiative. Combining commercial thinking with strong analytical capability, you’ll influence pricing strategy through market-leading analytics, delivering solutions that drive growth, profitability and customer value.
This is an ideal opportunity for an experienced Senior Pricing Analyst looking to take the next step in their career. You’ll combine technical excellence with leadership responsibilities, managing at least one direct report, coaching and developing Analysts, influencing stakeholders and taking ownership of key commercial decisions. It’s the perfect role for someone looking to broaden their management experience before moving into a Pricing Manager role.
What you’ll be doing
- Take ownership of the pricing performance of a portfolio or strategic initiative, driving profitable and sustainable growth.
- Develop market pricing proposals through analysis of customer behaviour, demand, competitor activity, market positioning and financial performance.
- Lead complex pricing initiatives from concept through implementation, monitoring performance and identifying opportunities for continuous optimisation.
- Build, enhance and maintain market pricing models that support commercial decision making.
- Review and challenge risk models, ensuring they remain appropriate for market pricing applications and align with the wider pricing strategy.
- Make evidence-based pricing recommendations, confidently presenting complex analysis and influencing stakeholders to make commercially sound decisions.
- Support the development of new products, propositions and strategic pricing initiatives through analysis, pricing design and performance monitoring.
- Coach and develop analysts through technical mentoring, quality assurance and day-to-day support, while providing line management for at least one team member.
- Partner with ML Operations and Data Science teams to develop and embed new pricing capabilities and analytical tooling.
- Champion customer-first pricing, ensuring fair value is at the heart of every pricing decision.
- Drive continuous improvement across pricing methodologies, governance, analytical capability and ways of working.
Work arrangements:
At AXA we work smart, empowering our people to balance their time between home and the office in a way that works best for them, their team and our customers. You'll work at least two days a week (40%) away from home, moving to three days a week (60%) in the future. Away from home means attending the office, visiting clients or attending industry events.

Your skills & experience
- Strong understanding of insurance pricing methodologies, with experience developing market pricing models and the ability to interpret, review and challenge risk models.
- Proven experience leading complex pricing projects and translating analytical insight into commercial outcomes.
- Experience taking ownership of pricing performance for a product or key business area.
- Experience coaching, mentoring or developing others.
- Excellent stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence, challenge constructively and build credibility across technical and non-technical audiences.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with experience using Python, R or similar analytical tools.
- Good understanding of statistical modelling techniques and their application within insurance pricing.
- Degree (2:1 or higher) in a mathematics-related discipline.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to translate complex analytical concepts into clear, commercially focused recommendations.
- Proactive, resilient and comfortable working in a fast-paced environment with multiple priorities.
- Passionate about continuous improvement, developing others and delivering exceptional customer outcomes.
