Job Summary
We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Finance Assistant (AAT Apprenticeship) to join our UK finance department. This paid apprenticeship is ideal for a candidate seeking an entry-level role into finance and offers an excellent opportunity to develop practical skills in financial administration within a dynamic organisation. The successful candidate will support various accounting functions, gain hands-on experience with industry-standard software, and work towards professional accreditation through the AAT programme. Key Responsibilities
1. Purchase ledger and payment support
- Process supplier invoices and staff expenses accurately and on time.
- Maintain organised records of supporting documents and approvals.
- Assist with weekly payment pack preparation for review by the Finance Manager.
- Help monitor finance inbox queries, supplier requests, and missing documentation.
2. Approval and document control
- Support the administration of invoice approvals, including logging requests, chasing responses, and checking for duplicate submissions.
- Maintain finance trackers and document folders to ensure finance records are complete and accessible.
- Help keep supporting evidence up to date for recurring finance processes and audits.
3. Receivables and dispute support
- Assist with logging customer disputes, deductions, and outstanding queries in finance trackers / systems.
- Build and maintain document packs and supporting evidence for disputed items.
- Support routine receivables follow-up and simple cash allocation work under supervision.
- Escalate unusual, incomplete, or sensitive items to the Finance Manager.
4. Reconciliations and recurring support
- Prepare routine reconciliations and finance support schedules under supervision, including supplier statements and selected recurring control files.
- Assist with fixed asset, payroll control, prepayment, and other standard month-end support schedules as training progresses.
- Help investigate routine discrepancies and maintain clear notes of proposed follow-up actions.
5. Month-end and audit support
- Help prepare month-end support files, close documentation, and finance evidence packs.
- Ensure finance files are complete, well organised, and ready for internal review or external audit support.
- Support ongoing maintenance of finance checklists, trackers, and process documentation.
