Salary: £32,000 basic + OTE £45,000
Hours: Monday to Friday with Saturday rota

We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Workshop Controller to join our busy and successful aftersales department.
This is an ideal role for an experienced Workshop Controller or Senior Technician looking to take the next step in their career. You will play a key role in ensuring the workshop operates efficiently while delivering exceptional customer service and maximising departmental performance.
Working closely with the Aftersales Manager, Service Advisors, Workshop Technicians and Parts Department, you will help drive workshop efficiency, productivity and profitability.
Key Responsibilities
Workshop Control
- Supervise and coordinate the daily operation of the workshop.
- Allocate work efficiently to technicians based on skill level and workshop capacity.
- Ensure technicians receive job cards promptly at the start of each day.
- Monitor job progress and workshop loading to maximise productivity and minimise downtime.
- Prioritise urgent repairs and ensure vehicles move through the workshop efficiently.
- Ensure repair orders are completed accurately with correct mileage, chassis numbers and labour operations recorded.
- Carry out quality control checks before vehicle handover.
- Assist with workshop bookings using your technical knowledge to improve scheduling and efficiency.
Warranty & Technical Support
- Ensure all warranty repairs comply with manufacturer policies and procedures.
- Check warranty documentation before submission.
- Provide technical guidance and support to Service Advisors when required.
- Use previous technician experience to assist with diagnosis and workshop planning.
Service Operations
- Process and obtain repair authorisations through 1link.
- Accept and manage service bookings received via 1link.
- Support Service Advisors by selling additional work identified through Vehicle Health Checks (VHCs), particularly red work recommendations.
- Assist with invoicing when required.
- Maintain excellent communication with customers and colleagues throughout the repair process.
Workshop Performance
- Monitor technician efficiency and productivity.
- Ensure non-productive time is recorded correctly.
- Work closely with the Parts Department to ensure required parts are available before vehicle arrival.
- Help maximise labour sales and workshop utilisation.
Compliance
- Ensure compliance with manufacturer warranty standards and audit requirements.
- Maintain Health & Safety standards throughout the workshop.
- Ensure all workshop and MOT documentation is completed accurately and on time.
- Comply with GDPR and company policies.
- Assist with workshop security and end-of-day closing procedures.
About You
We're looking for someone who has:
- Previous experience as a Workshop Controller or Senior Technician.
- Strong technical knowledge of vehicle servicing and repair.
- Experience using Keyloop/Autoline (preferred).
- Experience using 1link.
- Good understanding of manufacturer warranty procedures.
- Excellent organisational and communication skills.
- The ability to work under pressure and prioritise workloads effectively.
- A proactive approach with strong problem-solving skills.
- A full UK driving licence.
