The Diocese of Manchester is seeking an experienced and independent individual to chair its newly established Audit and Risk Committee.
This is an opportunity to play a key role in strengthening governance, assurance and stewardship across a large and complex charitable organisation serving communities throughout Greater Manchester and Lancashire.
As Independent Chair, you will provide leadership to the Audit and Risk Committee and support Bishop's Council in overseeing governance, risk management, internal controls and assurance arrangements. You will bring independent judgement, professional expertise and constructive challenge to help ensure the Diocese maintains the highest standards of accountability and good governance.
We are looking for someone with senior-level experience in one or more of the following areas:

Corporate governance

Audit and assurance
-
Risk management
-
Finance
-
Regulation or compliance
-
Public, charitable or commercial sector leadership
You will have experience of chairing boards or committees, an ability to analyse complex issues, and a commitment to promoting effective stewardship and transparent decision-making.
The role attracts an honorarium of £6,000 per annum and is expected to involve approximately 12–15 days each year, including six committee meetings and occasional attendance at Bishop's Council and related meetings.
