The Role
To deliver an accredited, efficient and professional fingerprint service by providing fingerprint identification skills.
What You’ll Do

Assist, support and ensure the compliance of ISO 17025 standards and The Forensic Regulators Code of Practice which includes required competency, proficiency and witness testing.

Analyse, compare and evaluate friction ridge detail. Provide independent opinions and interpretations on these examinations.

Evaluate and compare scene of crime marks against nominated persons to identify or eliminate. This includes a requirement to frequently complete urgent checks on individuals in custody.

Maintain and search manual and online collections to provide investigating officers with an effective service.

Utilise AFIS computer systems for the acquisition and search of data and image detail of fingerprint forms and scene of crime marks including Immigration and international fingerprint searches.
What You’ll Bring

4 G.C.S.E. levels (Grade A to C) including English Language or Literature and Maths or an approved equivalent.

Complete Foundation and Intermediate Fingerprint Courses including any University Portfolio or Critical Reflections or equivalent within 2 years of appointment.

Awareness of Durham, Cleveland or Northumbria forensic databases and intelligence systems is desirable.

At least 12 months previous work experience.
