Standard hours: Normally 8:00am–5:00pm, with overtime where applicable
About the role
Enviro Recruit is looking for experienced Solar PV Roofers to join a growing renewable-energy installation team.
This is a permanent PAYE position for roofers and Solar PV installers with strong hands-on experience fitting solar mounting systems to domestic and occasional commercial properties.
The role is field-based and involves regular travel across Scotland. You must be comfortable working away from home, travelling at short notice and working as part of a mobile installation team.
This is not a trainee position. Applicants must already have practical experience installing Solar PV mounting systems on roofs.
Main responsibilities
You will:
- Install Solar PV mounting rails, brackets, hooks and racking systems.
- Prepare roofs for Solar PV panel installation.
- Fit mounting systems to slate, tile and metal-sheet roofs.
- Complete roof penetrations, flashing and weatherproofing correctly.
- Lift, position and secure Solar PV panels.
- Inspect roof areas and identify practical or safety concerns.
- Protect the roof structure and prevent water ingress.
- Work safely at height using the correct access and fall-protection equipment.
- Work as part of an installation team, normally consisting of roofers and electricians.
- Help complete installations safely and within the agreed timeframe.
- Follow job instructions issued by the installation supervisor and office team.
- Upload job photographs and installation evidence using Solocator or a similar mobile application.
- Communicate professionally with customers while working at their properties.
- Report roof defects, access problems, safety concerns and material shortages promptly.
- Follow company health and safety procedures at all times.
- Represent the company professionally on every job.
Essential requirements
Applicants must have:
- Recent hands-on Solar PV roofing or mounting-system installation experience.
- Experience fitting solar rails, racking, roof hooks and flashing.
- Experience working on slate and tile roofs.
- A current CSCS card.
- Current Working at Heights training.
- A full current UK driving licence.
- The unrestricted right to work in the UK.
- The ability and willingness to work away from home regularly.
- Availability to work a 10-days-on/4-days-off pattern.
- Good practical problem-solving skills.
- Reliable timekeeping and a professional attitude.
- A strong understanding of roof safety and weatherproofing.
- The ability to work confidently without constant supervision.
Experience working on metal-sheet or standing-seam roofs would be advantageous.
Applicants with five years (5) or more of general roofing or construction experience are preferred. Candidates with less general roofing experience may still be considered where they have at least two years (2) of strong, recent Solar PV roof-installation experience.
Experience using Solocator or a similar job-recording application would be useful but is not essential.
Travel and working away
This is a travel-heavy, field-based position.
- A company van is provided for business use.
- When working away, accommodation and a travel allowance will be arranged.

Who this role suits
This role would suit an experienced Solar PV Roofer who can assess roof conditions, install mounting systems correctly, solve practical problems and complete work without compromising roof integrity.
It will not suit someone looking for local-only work, someone unable to work away from home or someone without genuine hands-on Solar PV mounting experience.
