Rabbi – Kingsbury United Synagogue
Kingsbury United Synagogue is a warm, welcoming and traditional community, and we are looking for a Rabbi to help lead and inspire us. This is a lovely opportunity for someone who wants to build relationships, support people through all stages of life, and play a meaningful part in a close-knit community.
The role is part-time for six months, with the possibility of an extension. Hours will be agreed and will include Shabbat, Chagim and some weekends. It may suit someone studying towards Semicha. Salary depends on experience, and local accommodation over Shabbat and Chaggim may be available if needed.
We are looking for someone warm, approachable and energetic who can lead services, give thoughtful and inspiring sermons, and offer pastoral support to members and their families. You will work closely with the lay leadership, help bring people together, and encourage Jewish learning and engagement across the community:
- Lead services and leyn as needed
- Give inspiring sermons on Shabbat and Chagim
- Offer pastoral care and support to members
- Answer religious questions and provide guidance
- Support learning, shiurim and wider community life
- Work with lay leaders to help the community grow and thrive
You will be a Semicha holder, or studying towards Semicha, and be acceptable to the Court of the Chief Rabbi. You should be comfortable leading services and connecting with people of all ages and backgrounds. We are especially looking for someone kind, down to earth and able to make others feel supported and included. A flexible approach is important, as the role will involve all Shabbatot and Chagim unless on approved leave.
A driving licence and the right to work in the UK are required.
Experience in pastoral work, teaching or counselling would be helpful, but just as important is the ability to work well with others, bring warmth and integrity to the role, and share a genuine commitment to Jewish life, the wider community and the values of the United Synagogue.
