Position Overview:
This position is primarly responsible for the design, development, integration, and testing of Infrastructure for Data Centers.
PRISM DCS manufacture Cabinets, Containment, Liquid Cooling and Caging Solutions for deployment within Data Centre environments.
The senior engineer will lead system design efforts for Cabinet, Containment, Liquid Cooling and Caging Solutions, support deployment strategies for new product developments, and build and mentor a team of engineers. This role also includes researching, innovating on new designs and approaches and implementing emerging high-density cooling solutions to support next-generation compute workloads.
Responsibilities:
1. Design, analyse, and develop Rear Door Heat Exchanger (RDHx) systems, including chilled water distribution, piping layouts, control strategies, and rack integration; produce detailed engineering drawings and documentation from concept through to deployment
2. Lead thermal modelling and performance analysis for high-density racks; validate RDHx capacity against IT loads and environmental conditions
3. Research emerging liquid cooling technologies (e.g., direct-to-chip, immersion, hybrid systems) and recommend improvements or enhancements to RDHx solutions
4. Develop and present multiple cooling design strategies (rack-level and row-level); collaborate with stakeholders to define optimal deployment approaches
5. Work with document control to create comprehensive design packages including schematics, hydraulic diagrams, Bills of Materials, and Engineering Change Orders
6. Define and execute testing and validation plans for RDHx systems, including factory acceptance testing (FAT), site acceptance testing (SAT), and commissioning activities
7. Analyse operational data (temperature, flow rates, pressure, return water temperatures) to optimise RDHx performance and energy efficiency
8. Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to RDHx performance, including flow imbalance, thermal inefficiencies, and integration challenges with existing HVAC systems
9. Ensure all designs meet customer requirements, data centre standards, and regulatory compliance, including redundancy models (e.g., N+1 configurations)
10. Continuously improve engineering processes and standards related to rack-level liquid cooling deployment
11. Additional duties as assigned
Education:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related engineering discipline required
- Specialization in Thermal and Fluid Sciences preferred.
- Advanced degree preferred
Experience:
- Minimum of 5 years of mechanical engineering design experience, with a strong focus on data centre cooling or HVAC systems
- Proven experience designing or implementing liquid cooling solutions, preferably RDHx or other rack-level cooling technologies is preferred
- Strong experience with chilled water systems, heat exchangers, and fluid distribution systems
- Experience with 3D CAD and drafting tools (e.g., SolidWorks or equivalent)
- Familiarity with Building Management Systems (BMS) and Data Centre Infrastructure Management (DCIM) tools helpful
- Experience with commissioning, validation testing, and performance optimisation in critical environments
Skills:
- Strong understanding of thermodynamics, airflow management, thermal optimisation techniques, heat transfer, and fluid mechanics as applied to liquid cooling systems
- Strong project management and organisational skills with a proven ability to manage multiple tasks, priorities and projects.
- Strong interpersonal, communication and cross-team collaboration skills with experience working with cross-functional, culturally diverse teams

Pay: £40,000.00-£50,000.00 per year
