Datom Civil Engineering Ltd is a growing civil engineering company delivering a range of civil engineering and infrastructure projects. We are looking for an enthusiastic and ambitious Junior Buyer / Junior Quantity Surveyor to join our civils office team.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone at the beginning of their career who wants to develop their skills, gain practical experience and build a long-term career within a growing business.
The Role
Working closely with our commercial and operational teams, you will gain experience across both procurement and quantity surveying, supporting projects from tender stage through to completion.
Your responsibilities will include:
* Assisting with the procurement of materials, plant, subcontractors and services.
* Obtaining and comparing supplier and subcontractor quotations.
* Raising and managing purchase orders.
* Assisting with cost tracking and project budgets.
* Supporting quantity take-offs and pricing.
* Assisting with valuations, variations and applications for payment.
* Helping to monitor project costs and commercial performance.
* Maintaining good relationships with suppliers and subcontractors.
* Supporting the preparation of commercial reports.
* Working closely with site teams and project managers.
* Assisting with general commercial and administrative duties within the civils office.

* Confident communicating with suppliers, subcontractors and colleagues.
* Comfortable working with numbers and spreadsheets.
* Able to work independently while also being part of a team.
* Keen to learn and take on increasing responsibility.
* Ideally experienced in, or studying towards, Quantity Surveying, Commercial Management, Construction or Civil Engineering.
Previous experience within civil engineering, construction, procurement or quantity surveying would be an advantage, but training and development will be provided for the right person.
