Based at: Civic Office, Doncaster
Salary: £8.00 per hour/ £15,434.27 per annum from 1st April 2026, for all ages in their first year of the apprenticeship. The National Minimum Wage as appropriate to age is then paid for the remainder of the apprenticeship contract following completion of the first year. Contract Type: Temporary Fixed Term. The post will be for 24 to 36 months from the start date, until completion of the qualification.

City of Doncaster Council can offer you the opportunity to earn while you learn on our Apprenticeship Programme as an Apprenticeship Engineering Design Technician Apprenticeship at Level 3 within the Traffic Signal and Control Team based at Civic Office in Doncaster.
The Apprentice Traffic Signal and Control Technician is an exciting development programme aimed at people who would like to be involved in the electrical and ICT engineering for the future of the highways. We are looking for people with a genuine interest and enthusiasm for Engineering and electronics.
You will be taking part in a structured training programme where you will be provided with the opportunity to learn new skills and gain qualifications. You will gain experience in both office-based environments and on site and will be required to travel across the city as part of your role.
During your apprenticeship, you will be expected to attain a Level 3 Engineering Design Technician Apprenticeship, along with other mandatory training requirements. All applicants must meet the entry requirements of the apprenticeship and be capable of achieving a full apprenticeship standard.
The duration of the apprenticeship will be dependent on prior qualifications/experience.
