GARDENER/RIDE ON MOWER OPERATIVE
37.5 hours per week

About the role
This varied role is based within our friendly Environmental Services team, with our depot off River Way in Harlow. You will contribute to a broad range of grounds maintenance work and mechanised operations in public parks, playing fields, housing areas and open spaces. This will include driving ride on mowers and fulfilling watchperson duties.
There’s lots of teamwork involved, and a strong focus on Health & Safety – you can take pride in a job well done when you see the results of your work. The main responsibility is grass cutting, especially during the summer. Other key responsibilities include:
- Weed control and pruning shrubs and hedges
- Using plant and equipment safely and efficiently
- Maintaining grass and clearing green debris, rubbish, and arisings
- Preparation and cultivating seedlings
- Planting bulbs, shrubs, hedging and trees for community spaces – including floral displays and war memorials
About you
You enjoy being outdoors irrespective of the weather and are used to hard manual work. You also have:
- Practical gardening experience, including planting and pruning techniques
- A good basic knowledge and understanding of Health and Safety
- Literacy and numeracy skills
- Good verbal communication skills and willingness to work as part of a team
- The ability to use plant, vehicles, and hand powered tools
- A valid full driving licence (essential)
HTS Group will provide training where required for the right candidate, furthermore, we expect our staff to demonstrate a willingness to undertake any required training as part of their role to ensure skills, knowledge and qualifications are kept up-to-date.
