Job Summary
Career Tree is seeking an experienced, autonomous HR Officer to lead our HR function across the group. This role carries cross-group responsibility, providing essential support to both our Higher Education (HE) and Further Education (FE) divisions, alongside a dedicated subsidiary. The successful candidate will act as the single point of contact for all HR and recruitment matters, ensuring professional, compliant, and equitable standards that enable continued organisational growth.
Job Details & Working Pattern
- Salary: £33,000 – £36,000 per annum (FTE), pro rata for part-time hours – subject to confirmation .
- Location: Primarily based in Wembley, with remote working flexibility available as agreed.
- Employment Type: Permanent.
- Working Pattern: Full-time will be considered, but part-time arrangements are preferred and welcomed.
- Reporting To: Company Directors.
Key Responsibilities
- Workforce Planning & Recruitment: Partner with senior leadership to identify staffing requirements. Lead end-to-end recruitment activities including job design, advertising, shortlisting, and interviewing across the HE and FE divisions. Deliver consistent onboarding and induction processes for all new starters.
- Staff Development & CPD: Support the design and delivery of team performance management processes. Coordinate tailored staff training and leadership development programmes. Oversee mandatory Continuing Professional Development (CPD) requirements to maintain regulatory and quality standards..
- Employee Relations & Compliance: Autonomously manage a varied employee relations caseload, including grievances, disciplinaries, and performance matters. Maintain accurate, compliant HR policies, procedures, and employee records in line with current UK employment legislation and safeguarding frameworks..
- Staff Wellbeing: Proactively promote and implement staff wellbeing initiatives across the group, including dedicated support for remote-based staff.
Required Qualifications & Experience
- Education: A degree in Human Resource Management or a related discipline.
- Professional Certification: CIPD Level 5 qualification is required (or actively working towards a Level 7) .
- Core Experience: Proven track record in a senior HR role managing employee relations casework, disciplinaries, grievances, recruitment, and onboarding processes.
Required Knowledge & Skills
- Strong working knowledge of UK employment law and current HR best practices.
- Sound understanding of safeguarding requirements within an organisation.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to manage a varied caseload independently.
Preferred Qualifications & Experience (Desirable)
- Full CIPD Level 7 certification or Chartered CIPD membership.
- Experience working within education, training, or recruitment sector environments.
- Experience operating across multiple sites or multi-entity organisations.
- Prior experience using HR Information Systems (HRIS) and supporting leadership development programmes.
