Axcis Education is currently recruiting for a dedicated and enthusiastic Teaching Assistant to join a friendly and inclusive special school in Sutton. This rewarding opportunity involves providing 1:1 support for a Year 3 pupil with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) within a well-resourced SEND environment.

This role is ideal for a Teaching Assistant who is passionate about making a positive difference in the life of a child with autism.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide dedicated 1:1 support for a Year 3 pupil with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD)
- Support the pupil's learning, engagement, and participation throughout the school day
- Implement strategies to support emotional regulation and positive behaviour
- Build a positive and trusting relationship with the pupil to encourage confidence and independence
- Manage challenging behaviours, including disengagement from learning and leaving the classroom
- Support the pupil during transitions between lessons and activities
- Adapt learning activities to meet individual needs and learning styles
- Work closely with teachers, SENCOs, therapists, and other support staff to ensure consistent support
The Ideal Candidate:
We are looking for a Teaching Assistant who:
- Has previous experience supporting children with SEND, particularly Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD)
- Has strong behaviour management and de-escalation skills
- Is resilient, proactive, and able to remain calm in challenging situations
- Can build positive relationships and maintain clear professional boundaries
- Has excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Demonstrates patience, empathy, and a genuine passion for supporting children with additional needs
- Holds relevant Teaching Assistant, SEND, Childcare, Psychology, Health & Social Care, or Education qualifications (desirable but not essential)
