Job Summary
Nav Van Hire is seeking a reliable, organised, and detail-oriented Accounts Assistant to join our growing finance team. The successful candidate will support the day-to-day financial operations of the business, ensuring accurate processing of customer and supplier transactions, maintaining financial records, and assisting with month-end reporting.

Key Responsibilities
- Process purchase invoices and supplier payments accurately and efficiently.
- Raise customer invoices for vehicle rentals, damage charges, and additional services.
- Reconcile customer and supplier accounts, resolving any discrepancies promptly.
- Assist with credit control by monitoring outstanding balances and following up on overdue payments.
- Process daily banking transactions and allocate customer receipts.
- Maintain accurate financial records using accounting software.
- Assist with month-end and year-end financial procedures.
- Support the preparation of VAT returns and financial reports.
- Maintain organised financial documentation in line with company procedures.
- Liaise with customers, suppliers, and internal departments regarding finance-related queries.
- Assist with vehicle deposit reconciliations and refund processing.
- Ensure compliance with company financial policies and procedures.
- Support the Finance Manager with ad-hoc accounting and administrative duties.
Experience & Skills
- Previous experience as an Accounts Assistant, Finance Assistant, Bookkeeper, or similar role.
- Experience using accounting software such as Xero, or similar accounting systems.
- Strong understanding of purchase ledger, sales ledger, and bank reconciliations.
- Excellent numerical and data entry skills with a high level of accuracy.
- Good knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Outlook, and Microsoft Office.
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
- Excellent communication and customer service skills.
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
- Experience within the vehicle rental, automotive, transport, or fleet industry would be advantageous but is not essential.
- Must have own transport.
Desirable
- Experience within the vehicle rental, automotive, transport, or fleet industry.
- Knowledge of VAT returns and month-end accounting procedures.
