Overview
We are seeking a skilled Memorial Stonemason to join our dedicated team. This specialised role involves crafting and installing memorial stones with precision and care, ensuring lasting tribute for clients. Duties
- Carving, shaping, and finishing memorial stones using hand tools and power tools to client specifications
- Installing memorials on-site, ensuring stability and adherence to safety standards
- Reading and interpreting technical drawings and design plans accurately
- Selecting appropriate materials such as granite, marble, or limestone for each project
- Repairing or restoring existing memorials as required
- Maintaining a clean and organised workspace, adhering to health and safety regulations
- Collaborating with clients to understand their requirements and provide expert advice on materials and design options
- Assisting with related tasks such as bricklaying, roofing, or carpentry when necessary for site preparation or finishing touches
Qualifications
- Proven experience in masonry, bricklaying, or stonework is essential; prior work as a memorial stonemason is highly desirable
- Proficiency in using hand tools, power tools, and specialised masonry equipment
- Knowledge of masonry techniques including carving, setting, and finishing stone surfaces
- Skills in carpentry, roofing, or welding are advantageous for versatile project support
- Ability to read technical drawings and interpret client specifications accurately
- Strong organisational skills with attention to detail and craftsmanship standards
- Physical fitness to handle heavy materials and work in various outdoor conditions
- Excellent communication skills to liaise effectively with clients and team members
