Join our dynamic team as a Shop Assistant/Counter assistant and become the friendly face that enhances the shopping experience for our valued customers. In this energetic role, you will provide exceptional customer service, assist with daily store operations, and ensure a welcoming environment.
Responsibilities
- Provide friendly and helpful customer service at all times.
- Operate the till accurately and process cash and card payments.
- Serve customers at the food counter and prepare food and drinks in line with company procedures.
- Prepare and restock food counter items as required.
- Maintain high standards of cleanliness, hygiene and food safety throughout the shop and food preparation areas.
- Replenish stock on shelves, displays, fridges and freezers.
- Check deliveries, rotate stock and ensure products are displayed correctly.
- Check product dates and remove expired or damaged goods.
- Keep the shop, stockroom, counters and customer areas clean, tidy and well presented.
- Assist with opening and closing duties, including securing the premises where required.
- Follow company procedures relating to cash handling, stock control, food hygiene, health and safety and security.
- Deal with customer queries and complaints politely and escalate issues to management when necessary.
- Work effectively as part of a team and support colleagues during busy periods.
- Follow reasonable instructions given by management and carry out other duties appropriate to the role.
- Proven experience in customer service or retail environments is preferred
- Ability to multitask efficiently while maintaining attention to detail in a fast-paced setting
- A proactive attitude with a willingness to learn new skills and adapt to evolving store needs
