Partnership and Quality Lead - Primary Careers Education
This is an exciting opportunity to join the Youth, Employment and Opportunities Team, in the Education Work and Skills Directorate at a pivotal time in our devolution journey.
Our team of Partnership and Quality Leads (PQLs) play a central role in shaping the future of careers education across Greater Manchester through dynamic collaboration building strong, effective relationships between education, employers, providers, local authorities and other system partners. Careers-related learning in primary includes embedding learning about jobs, skills and the world of work into the curriculum, delivering age-appropriate employer encounters, and helping children develop aspirations, challenge stereotypes and understand future possibilities. We are creating the conditions for all our children and young people to have the opportunity to thrive, with a clear line of sight towards progression pathways and good jobs in our growing economy.
We are recruiting two PQL Primary roles to bring a specialist focus to the team on careers related learning within the primary sector, supporting the progression and impact of the Greater Manchester Careers Hub’s Community of Practice (CoP). A bespoke GM system model designed to elevate highquality, inclusive careers education, information, advice and guidance (CEIAG) for all.
In this role, you will lead the design and system-wide implementation of a highquality approach to build and embed early careers-related learning across the primary sector, shaping shared objectives that broaden aspirations, challenge stereotypes, and connect learning and skills development to real-world contexts.
A key part of the role is championing organisational development by enhancing communication, supporting collaboration and ensuring our careers education community works seamlessly together to help children thrive from this early stage. You will accelerate innovation, deliver at pace to create a framework that strengthens practice, drives consistency and captures and embeds excellence across the system. You will work across partners to design, implement and quality assure delivery, including employer engagement models and system-wide approaches

This role contributes directly to the Mayor’s ambitions to transform technical education through the Greater Manchester Baccalaureate, the development of an All-age Careers Strategy for GM and supports the Greater Manchester Strategy’s goals to ensure young people leave education ready to succeed in the labour market.
Key Responsibilities

Support the advancement of a Community of Practice to drive consistent, high-quality and impactful careers-related learning in primary through shared approaches, resources and improvement cycles across schools

Support schools to embed careers-related learning across the primary curriculum
- Design and scale age-appropriate employer encounters that bring learning to life
- Develop and convene professional development that builds teacher confidence in embedding CRL
- Support inclusive, place-based approaches that reflect local communities, sectors and opportunities

Use data, insight and evaluation to drive quality improvement and inform local and system-wide priorities

Embed youth voice and influence
- Champion equality, diversity, and inclusion (EDI) embedding inclusive practices across the Community of Practice
Success in this role will result in more primary schools delivering consistent, high-quality careers-related learning, with increased teacher confidence and improved awareness and aspirations among pupils.
