Overview
We are seeking a compassionate and organised Activities Co-ordinator to join our team in providing engaging and meaningful activities for residents in a care home setting. The ideal candidate will have experience in assisted living environments, with a focus on senior care, including dementia and Alzheimer's care. This role offers an opportunity to enhance residents' quality of life through creative and tailored programmes that promote socialisation, mental stimulation, and overall wellbeing.
Working hours: 18 hours per week, with every other weekend working
Responsibilities
- Plan, organise, and facilitate a variety of recreational activities tailored to residents’ needs and interests.
- Develop programmes that support cognitive function, mobility, and emotional wellbeing, particularly for residents with dementia or Alzheimer's.
- Foster an inclusive environment that encourages participation and social interaction among residents.
- Collaborate with care staff to assess individual resident preferences and capabilities to personalise activity plans.
- Maintain accurate records of activities conducted and resident participation levels.
- Encourage family involvement in activities where appropriate to strengthen community bonds.
- Monitor the effectiveness of activities and adapt programmes accordingly to maximise engagement.
- Ensure all activities are conducted safely, respecting residents’ dignity and individual needs.
Requirements
- Prior experience working in assisted living, nursing homes, or care environments specialising in senior care is highly desirable.
- Knowledge of dementia care and Alzheimer’s care principles is essential.
- Strong communication skills to effectively engage with residents, families, and team members.
- Demonstrated organisational skills with the ability to plan diverse activity programmes.
- Compassionate approach with a genuine interest in enhancing the lives of older adults.
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a multidisciplinary team.
