We are currently working with a leading specialist fit-out and refurbishment contractor to recruit an experienced Senior Project Planner for their growing regional team.
The role can be based from either Manchester or Leeds, with projects spanning the North West and North East. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced planner with a strong fit-out background and solid NEC experience to join an established and highly regarded contractor.
You will play a key role in developing, managing and monitoring project programmes, working closely with project teams, clients, consultants and the supply chain to ensure projects are delivered safely, efficiently and to programme.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, maintain and manage detailed project programmes from pre-construction through to completion.
- Work closely with Project Managers, Commercial Managers, Design Managers and site teams to establish realistic and deliverable programmes.
- Monitor progress against programme and identify potential delays, risks and opportunities.
- Produce regular programme updates, progress reports and look-ahead schedules.
- Undertake programme analysis and provide clear recommendations to project teams.
- Provide planning input into change management, delays, extensions of time and associated programme impacts.
- Coordinate programme activities across design, procurement, construction and commissioning.
- Work collaboratively with clients, consultants, subcontractors and supply-chain partners.
- Provide planning input into project reviews, commercial meetings and client presentations.
- Support the wider business with planning best practice and continuous improvement.
- Travel across the North West and North East as required.
Essential Experience
- Significant experience as a Project Planner / Senior Project Planner within the construction sector.
- Strong and demonstrable fit-out and refurbishment experience.
- Experience delivering complex construction or fit-out projects from pre-construction through to completion.
- Strong NEC experience, with a good understanding of programme, change, delay and contractual requirements.
- Excellent knowledge of construction planning and programming methodologies.
- Proven experience producing and managing detailed, logic-linked construction programmes.
- Strong understanding of design, procurement and construction sequencing.
- Excellent analytical, communication and stakeholder-management skills.
- Ability to work independently while operating effectively within a wider project team.
- Willingness and ability to travel across the North West and North East.
Desirable Experience
- Previous experience with a main contractor.
- Large-scale commercial fit-out and refurbishment experience.
- Strong knowledge of P6 / Primavera or other industry-standard planning software.
- Experience working under NEC3 and/or NEC4.
- Relevant construction, engineering or project management qualification.
Location & Travel
The position can be based from Manchester or Leeds, with projects located across the North West and North East.
Candidates should therefore be comfortable travelling to project sites across the region as required.
The Ideal Candidate
We are looking for a technically strong and commercially aware Senior Project Planner who understands the complexities of fit-out and refurbishment projects and is confident operating within an NEC environment.
You will be proactive in identifying programme risks, comfortable challenging and influencing project teams, and capable of building strong relationships with clients, consultants and the supply chain.
