Job Summary
We are seeking a reliable and skilled HGV Driver to join our logistics team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for the safe and efficient transportation of goods to various locations. This role requires a strong understanding of vehicle operation, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work independently while adhering to all safety regulations. Pay reviewed after 3 months and 6 months
Duties
- Operate a variety of vehicles, including refrigerated lorries and vans, to deliver goods to designated locations with some multi drop work.
- Ensure timely and accurate delivery of products while maintaining high standards of customer service.
- Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections of vehicles to ensure they are in good working condition.
- Communicate effectively with warehouse staff and customers regarding delivery schedules and any potential issues.
- Maintain accurate records of deliveries, including logs for mileage, fuel usage, and any mechanical issues encountered.
- Assist with loading and unloading cargo as required, ensuring proper handling to prevent damage.
- Demonstrate mechanical knowledge by performing basic maintenance tasks on the vehicle as needed.
Qualifications
- Valid commercial driving license with appropriate endorsements for operating lorries and vans.
- Previous experience as a delivery driver or in a similar role is preferred.
- Basic mechanical knowledge to identify and address minor vehicle issues.
- Excellent communication skills for effective interaction with team members and clients.
- Ability to work independently and manage time efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
- Familiarity with warehouse operations is an advantage.
