Job Overview
You will initially provide vital administrative and legal support to a Shrewsbury-based conveyancing solicitor to cover a period of maternity leave starting 2nd October 2026. This position begins as a temporary contract to cover maternity but holds a genuine opportunity to transition into a permanent role for the right candidate as our firm continues to grow. You must be office-based and ready to hit the ground running. Key Responsibilities:-
- File Management: Open new client files, issue client care packs, and run initial ID/AML checks.
- Searches & Enquiries: Apply for local authority, water, and environmental searches. Draft standard replies to enquiries.
- Portal Management: Use online platforms like the HM Land Registry to submit applications and official searches.
- Client Communication: Answer client, estate agent, and broker queries via phone and email.
- Financial Admin: Request mortgage advances, prepare completion statements, and handle client account ledgers.
- Post-Completion: Submit SDLT (Stamp Duty Land Tax) returns to HMRC and register changes at the Land Registry.
Requirements
- Experience: Minimum 1 year of recent experience working in a UK residential conveyancing team.
- Availability: Ready to begin full-time employment from October 2026.
- Ambition: Keen to secure a long-term, permanent career within the firm.
- Skills: Strong organisation, clear written communication, and good attention to detail.
- Software: Familiarity with law case management systems and MS Office.
- Knowledge: Basic understanding of the conveyancing process in England and Wales.
Pay: £25,500.00 per year
