Job Summary
The Head of School is a pivotal leadership role responsible for overseeing the overall management and strategic direction of the educational institution. This position involves fostering an environment of academic excellence, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards, and promoting a positive school culture. The successful candidate will lead staff development, engage with the wider community, and uphold the organisation’s mission and values to provide an enriching learning experience for all students.
Duties
- Provide visionary leadership to staff, students, and the wider school community.
- Develop and implement strategic plans to achieve educational objectives and organisational goals.
- Oversee curriculum development, ensuring high standards of teaching and learning across all year groups.
- Manage staff recruitment, professional development programmes, and performance appraisals.
- Ensure compliance with local education authority policies, health and safety regulations, and safeguarding procedures.
- Foster strong relationships with parents, guardians, and external organisations to support student wellbeing and community engagement.
- Monitor academic progress and implement initiatives to improve student outcomes.
- Oversee administrative functions including budgeting, resource allocation, and facilities management.
- Promote a positive school environment that encourages inclusivity, respect, and personal growth.
Skills
- Proven experience in educational leadership or senior management within a school setting.
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to inspire staff and engage stakeholders.
- Sound knowledge of curriculum development and educational standards.
- Demonstrable commitment to safeguarding, equality, and inclusion principles.
- Teaching experience is highly desirable to ensure an understanding of classroom dynamics and pedagogical best practices.
- Ability to lead change initiatives whilst maintaining a collaborative team approach.
