Job Overview
Rossendale Group is seeking a skilled and motivated Crane Engineer to join our engineering team. This role involves the installation, maintenance, inspection, and repair of overhead cranes and lifting equipment across a variety of industrial client sites. The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring equipment operates safely, efficiently, and in compliance with relevant regulations and standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Install, commission, and test overhead cranes, hoists, and associated components.
- Carry out fault finding, diagnostics, and repairs on crane systems.
- Perform routine servicing, preventative maintenance, and safety inspections.
- Ensure all work is completed in accordance with health & safety regulations and company procedures.
- Provide technical support and advice to customers on-site.
- Complete service reports, documentation, and compliance records accurately.
- Participate in emergency breakdowns where required.
Requirements
Essential:
- Proven experience working with overhead cranes, hoists, or industrial lifting equipment.
- Relevant engineering qualifications (e.g., NVQ Level 3, City & Guilds, or equivalent).
- Mechanical and/or electrical competence with the ability to fault find under pressure and work independently.
- Full UK driving licence.
- Good understanding of health & safety practices in industrial environments.
Desirable:
- Knowledge of crane components (gearboxes, brakes, wire ropes, end carriages).
- Experience with control and drive systems.
- LOLER inspection experience.
- IPAF, PASMA, or similar access equipment certifications.
- Experience working at height.
