About the Role
Perissos Foods Ltd is seeking an organised, commercially aware and experienced logistics manager to oversee and coordinate our growing warehouse, stock, cold-chain, dispatch and distribution operations.
The successful candidate will take responsibility for ensuring that goods move efficiently through the business from supplier delivery and receipt through storage, stock control, order preparation, dispatch and final delivery.
This role is particularly important as the business expands its retail, wholesale, e-commerce and nationwide distribution activities.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan and coordinate inbound supplier deliveries and outbound customer orders.
- Manage day-to-day logistics, warehouse and distribution activities.
- Coordinate local and nationwide delivery schedules, courier collections and transport arrangements.
- Oversee stock movements, inventory controls, stock rotation and reconciliation.
- Monitor frozen and temperature-sensitive goods throughout the logistics process.
- Ensure appropriate cold-chain and temperature-control procedures are followed.
- Maintain accurate stock, dispatch, delivery and traceability records.
- Investigate stock discrepancies, delivery issues and operational exceptions.
- Plan warehouse and dispatch workflows to support efficient order fulfilment.
- Monitor order-processing and delivery performance against operational targets.
- Liaise with suppliers, couriers, transport providers and other operational partners.
- Supervise logistics and warehouse staff and allocate daily workloads.
- Monitor staff performance and ensure operational procedures are consistently followed.
- Support recruitment, induction and training of logistics staff where required.
- Identify logistics inefficiencies and implement practical process improvements.
- Monitor transport, courier and distribution costs and identify opportunities to improve efficiency.
- Work closely with senior management regarding stock availability, operational capacity and distribution requirements.
- Ensure compliance with company procedures relating to food safety, HACCP, health and safety, cold-chain management, stock traceability and record keeping.
- Prepare logistics and operational reports for management.
- Support contingency planning for delayed deliveries, stock shortages, courier disruption and other operational risks.
Essential Requirements
- Previous experience within logistics, distribution, warehousing, supply chain or a comparable operational environment.
- Experience coordinating stock movements, deliveries or distribution activities.
- Good understanding of inventory and stock-control procedures.
- Strong planning, organisational and time-management skills.
- Ability to coordinate multiple deliveries, orders and operational priorities.
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills.
- Experience supervising or coordinating staff.
- Good written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong attention to detail and record-keeping.
- Ability to analyse operational problems and implement practical solutions.
- Competence using standard business, inventory or logistics systems.
- Ability to work independently and take responsibility for operational outcomes.
Desirable Requirements
- Degree, diploma or professional qualification in logistics, supply chain management, business, operations management or a related field.
- Experience within food distribution, FMCG, wholesale or retail logistics.
- Experience working with frozen, chilled or temperature-controlled products.
- Understanding of cold-chain management.
- Knowledge of food traceability and HACCP-based operating procedures.
- Experience managing courier or third-party logistics providers.
- Experience supporting growing or multi-channel distribution operations.
- Knowledge of warehouse performance monitoring and continuous improvement.
Person Specification
