Job Description:
We are looking for a passionate and organised Chef to join our friendly nursery team. You will be responsible for preparing and serving healthy, balanced meals and snacks for approx 36 children aged 6 months – 5 years. Working hours are between 9.30am and 2.30pm Monday to Friday.
As part of our team, you’ll play an important role in supporting children’s health and development through nutritious, home-cooked meals.
The Role
Key Responsibilities
- Plan and prepare daily meals and snacks in line with children’s dietary needs, allergies, and preferences.
- Ensure all food is nutritious, varied, and appealing to young children.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and well-organised kitchen in line with health & safety and food hygiene regulations.
- Manage stock levels, food orders, and budget effectively.
- Work closely with nursery staff to ensure individual dietary requirements are met.
- Promote a positive attitude towards healthy eating.
About You
- Previous experience as a cook, ideally within a nursery, school, or similar setting.
- Knowledge of child nutrition and the ability to cater for allergies and special diets.
- Food Hygiene Certificate (Level 3 or above).
- Ability to work independently, manage time well, and stay organised.
- A caring nature and commitment to supporting children’s wellbeing.
