The role
We're looking for an enthusiastic and detail orientated Semi Senior Accountant to join our growing accounts team. You'll work closely with a range of clients, taking responsibility for preparing year end accounts and corporation tax returns, while developing strong relationships with clients and supporting the wider accounts team.
This is a great opportunity for someone with practice experience who wants to continue developing their technical knowledge and take on more responsibility within a growing accountancy practice.
Day to day, you'll be:
- Preparing year-end accounts — preparing accounts for limited companies from client records through to a completed set of accounts
- Corporation tax returns — preparing and submitting corporation tax returns accurately and within the relevant deadlines
- Reviewing client records — reviewing information provided by clients and identifying any discrepancies, missing information or areas requiring further investigation
- Client queries — liaising directly with clients to obtain information and resolve queries arising during the accounts preparation process
- Year-end adjustments — preparing journals and adjustments including accruals, prepayments, depreciation and other relevant year-end entries
- HMRC and Companies House — dealing with relevant correspondence and submissions where required
- Job management — managing your own workload and ensuring accounts and tax jobs are completed accurately and within deadlines
- Supporting the wider team — working closely with other members of the accounts team to ensure clients receive a high level of service

Who we're looking for
An accountant with 3+ years' accountancy practice experience who has a good understanding of limited year end accounts and corporation tax and is looking to further develop their skills and take on more responsibility.
If you enjoy preparing accounts, solving problems, working directly with clients and take pride in producing accurate work, this could be the role for you.
Essential
- Experience working within an accountancy practice
- Experience preparing year-end accounts for limited companies both from software and manual, along with supporting workpapers
- Good understanding of corporation tax
- Confident using accounting software and Excel
- Good attention to detail and a methodical approach to work
- Able to manage your own workload and work towards deadlines
- Ability to speak to clients in a confident and professional manner
- Good communication skills and the ability to raise queries and request information when necessary
Desirable
- AAT qualified or part-qualified ACCA, or working towards a relevant qualification
- Experience with Sage Cloud and/or Xero
- Experience preparing corporation tax returns
- Experience dealing directly with HMRC
- Experience with accounts production software
- Previous experience working with a varied portfolio of limited company clients

Pay: £27,000.00-£30,000.00 per year
