About Us
Nestled in the heart of the beautiful Peak District, Darwin Lake Holiday Village is a luxury 4-star holiday and exclusive wedding venue featuring 17 beautiful stone cottages set across 20 acres of stunning woodland, a village green, and a private three-acre lake. We pride ourselves on maintaining a tranquil, pristine, and welcoming environment for our holiday guests, wedding parties, and corporate groups.
The Role
We are seeking a reliable, multi-skilled, and proactive Part-Time Gardener / Handyperson to join our small, friendly team. Your main goal will be to keep our outdoor spaces looking immaculate and ensure our holiday cottages and facilities remain in top working order.
This is a varied role where no two days are the same. It is perfect for someone who loves working outdoors, takes pride in their work, and enjoys a mix of gardening and practical maintenance tasks.
Key Responsibilities
- Grounds & Gardening: Mowing lawns, strimming, weeding, maintaining flower beds, and ensuring pathways and woodland trails are clear, tidy, and safe.
- Lake & Village Green Upkeep: Assisting with general maintenance around the lake edge, firepit area, and outdoor entertainment spaces.
- General Handyperson Tasks: Undertaking minor repairs across the 17 holiday cottages and event venue (e.g., basic carpentry, replacing lightbulbs, touch-up painting, clearing gutters, fixing fixtures/fittings).
- Hot Tub Support: Assisting with routine checks or basic maintenance on guest hot tubs where required.
- Health & Safety: Keeping standard outdoor tools and equipment well-maintained and ensuring work areas are kept tidy and safe for guests.
What We Are Looking For
- Proven experience in gardening, grounds maintenance, or a property handyperson role.
- A broad range of practical skills (DIY, minor repairs, basic tool handling).
- A keen eye for detail and a high standard of care for our beautiful countryside surroundings.
- Ability to work independently using your own initiative, as well as working alongside the village management team.
- Friendly, polite, and respectful manner, as you may occasionally interact with guests on-site.
- Due to our rural location in Darley Moor, a valid driving licence and reliable transport are essential.
Why Join Us?
- A beautiful, tranquil working environment in the Peak District.
- Flexible part-time hours to fit around your other commitments.
- A supportive and friendly team culture.
