Gardens Team Member
Part time, Permanent
Salary: £18,592.80 per annum, pro rata (£26,207 per annum FTE)
Hours: 26.25 hours per week (working days to be discussed but will include one weekend day each week)
We have an exciting opportunity to join our Museum Gardens Team on a part-time basis with the possibility to pick up further hours on an ad hoc basis.
We are looking for a positive, proactive and flexible individual who can evidence a commitment to working in the horticultural industry and who possesses some experience of gardening in a professional capacity, or demonstrably on a journey to do so. A basic working knowledge of plants is required. Our ideal candidate will have experience of using light machinery such as pedestrian mowers, strimmer and hedge cutters for general maintenance, and be happy driving a compact tractor. You will be comfortable working outside all year round. The ideal candidate will also have good communication skills and be able to work independently, and as part of a team.
The role is varied and involves caring for and maintaining the Gardens and ensuring the Gardens are a clean and safe space that is welcoming to all. The visitor experience element of the role means that you will also interact with members of the public on a daily basis so a friendly outgoing personality is ideal. Some IT skills and experience of working with volunteers would also be advantageous.
